Sustainability

Sustainable entrepreneurship is an important part of the long-term objectives that we pursue at Hoppe Food Group BV. In essence, it is about the right balance between: planet, people and profit.

PLANET
In order to strive for sustainable business operations, we work closely with all our partners in the chain. After all, together you create a chain reaction. Sustainability is not new to us, as we have already taken the following steps to improve our ecological footprint:
Office
o Measures for a CO2-neutral office (such as green electricity, LED lighting, insulation standard)
o The goal is a paperless office through digitization (e.g. EDI, digital invoicing)
o Separating office waste at source (paper, plastic, glass and rest)
o A policy on electric or hybrid lease cars
Production
o We have now switched 100% to FSC-certified corrugated board
o The target is 95% recyclable packaging by the end of 2024
o Thanks to a unique return system for transport packaging, we minimize the waste flow of cardboard in production
o We have a policy on the use of certified raw materials, such as palm oil, chocolate (UTZ) and organic.
Logistics
o Combined transport by our carriers for more efficient mileage
o Transport with Euro 5 (EEV) trucks for minimal emissions of CO2 and particulate matter
o Reduce fuel consumption through the “new driving” and advanced route planning software

PEOPLE
At our production location where we assemble our mix boxes, we work closely with Ergon. They coach people intensively in finding and keeping a paid job. We are therefore proud of the employees who have now been given a permanent appointment.
We also work together with sheltered workshops to involve people who are “distanced from the labor market” in the work process.
Every year we welcome various trainees and interns who can “get a taste of business” with us as part of their studies. Hoppe is therefore a certified internship company.
Finally, we want to contribute to a healthier lifestyle through product development, which is currently in line with the social trend towards healthier snacking and pressure from the government to encourage consumers to consume more consciously. Sugar reduction, protein fortification, low carbohydrate and Nutri-score -A are some examples of this.

PROFIT
We have been actively supporting the Fairtrade movement since 2006 through the successful introduction of various Fairtrade products. In this way we contribute to a fair price for farmers in developing countries and improvement of social and environmental conditions.
